Better to make
Our boards are the most environmentally friendly boards we have come across in all our explorations of the surf world, being wooden and finished only with a blend of natural oils. For more sustainability credentials, see here.
Better to ride
They ride beautifully and easily, being all modern, high performance shapes with additional volume in the right places. Higher wave counts = bigger smiles. Also, the little extra weight (about 20% more than a PU board) helps the board cut through chop, gather momentum, and gives you a lower centre of gravity for more drive in the turns.
this would have been a board-snapping impact on a traditional fibreglass board
Better to last
Our boards can last you a lifetime rather than just 8-10 years or casual use. They won’t snap like foam cored boards and are easily repairable with normal carpentry skills but without adding weight or unbalancing the board. They’re like a pair of proper leather boots: yes they’re a bit heavier than the plastic equivalents and they scuff a bit easier, but with some yearly care they can last as long as you want them to.
