Our Skateboards

We could skate before we could surf. We learned at our local bowl, the Kennington Bowl in central London and rode old school 80s decks with big soft wheels. That’s what we love so that’s what we make. They’re not particularly sustainable but they are hand made locally. Tim can show you that slides, flip tricks and ollies are definitely possible on these, but they’re at their best when cruising, bowl carving or flying down the pump track. We primarily set them up as surf-skates for this reason.

True to form, we also name our decks after some of our favourite British mammals that also move the way our boards like to, namely the speedy hare and the agile pine marten. We also have 4 different designs that reflect Blackstock’s nature-focused philosophy and our own idea of sweet aesthetics. Look out for limited editions at our In Stock page.

For our full setups we only use premium hardware: Mindless trucks, Bones Swiss bearings, Venom/Mini Logo/Mindless wheels (all over 64mm and super soft), and clear grip tape to show off the wood grain.

Shapes

The Marten

Iconic 80’s bowl deck

Tim’s first ever deck was a ‘DeathBox’ with flypaper grip tape. Look carefully in Season 2 of Stranger Things and you’ll see one. This is what we’ve based the Marten on. With a pinched waist, strong contouring and blunted nose + tail, it just looks rad while supporting the feet perfectly in the bowl or in hard carving turns.

The Hare

king-sized speed cruiser

Inspired by Ben’s original surf skate setup, a Matt Hemsley King, this deck has smooth lines, plenty of width and length and a generous tail kick. As a proper speed merchant, it works as a longboard cruiser as well as a flying bowl board. You can even cross-step it, it you’re careful.

Designs

The Treeline

From Ben’s hand drawn and hand cut acetate stencil of oaks, cyprus, spruce and cedar, there are night sky and daylight versions with paint or stain. Our most popular design by far.

The McPunk

Designed by a great friend and supporter, Jonny Mac, this is a true early 80s street punk reprise, full of vigour, neon and lighning.

The Moorish

Showing Tim’s savvy as a designer, bringing an ancient Iberian tile design to a skateboard deck was genius, and it’s definitely Ben’s favourite.

The Chevron

Not sure whether this is because we grew up playing Mario Kart or it’s an iconic old school design, but this simple classic makes you feel like Yoshi and shows off that sweet maple wood grain.
